Socials
Concerned patriots club socials
As a social club, the Concerned Patriots International Club (CPIC) creates a social network around and among its members. It aims to upgrade and enhance members’ social awareness and bring to the fore the inherent benefits of social connections and networks to every member.
The primary objective of the club is to bring together, men of like minds with social commitment to assist and grow with each other. In pursuit of this, CPIC organizes functions periodically to create the enabling environment for members families to interact, bond, have fun and discuss businesses. Most importantly, members share in each other’s good times and bad times.
We have both annual programs and quarterly events aimed at bringing members and/or families of members together as well as constitutional provisions for identifying with members in times of celebrations and grief.
PICNICS
The welfare committee of CPIC is constitutionally saddled with or mandated to organize a family picnic for members families at least, twice a year to bring our families together. This picnic takes place at a chosen venue with a standard swimming pool. Other forms of entertainments are employed depending on the ingenuity of the Welfare Director.
The main features of the picnic includes but not limited to:
- Swimming competition
- Dancing competition
- Group meals/refreshments
- Drinks for all
- Jokes and riddles
MEETINGS
CPIC meets monthly and has kept this tradition since inception in 2001. Meetings were held at different hotel venues as may be agreed upon but later resorted to members hosting in their homes as a way of fostering unity and better understanding of each other – knowing where members live and getting closer to their families by visiting their homes.
It will be correct to say that the club currently uses the monthly general meeting to also create a social get together for members as the host normally provides enough foods and drinks for a fun filled meeting/gathering.
NGWORI (TGIF)
In an effort to create more fun and social events for members, the club also introduced a monthly or bi-weekly Thank-God It’s Friday Hangout for members on agreed Fridays for members to relax, unwind and clear their heads of the usual week day stress. This event has been nicknamed “ngwori”.
Patriots, their spouses and friends are welcome to our ngwori outings which are very well loaded with lots of entertainment and fun. No member wishes to miss it.
RETREATS
The retreat is an annual ritual of the CPIC driven by the serving chancellor and used to rejuvenate the spirit and interest of members in the club. It is one function that members look forward to. It usually holds outside River State and is compulsory for every member to attend. It is strictly only members affair although there has been recent discussion on including member’s spouses.
The club has been to many other cities like Abuja, Calabar, Uyo, Owerri and Enugu for the annual retreat. For the club retreats and the satisfaction and approval of members as remained same after each outing.
The highlights of the club retreats includes;
- A strategic planning session on the first day
- A Mini picnic for members on the evening of arrival
- An evening hangout at the best recommended joint/location in the host city
- Lectures by guest speakers (external or members)
Other activities are incorporated depending on the number of days and other schedules for the days.
OTHER CELEBRATIONS AND EVENTS

These celebrations / events includes;
- Child dedications

CHARITIES TO THE LARGER SOCIETY
CPIC as a social club places high priority on charity to the larger society. It is a mandatory activity of the club to extend the hand of charity and actually show concern to the less privileged around us. Since the inception of the club, it has become an annual event with the following activities;
- Visit to a charity home/motherless babies home
- Visit to a chosen hospital to encourage the sick and help the indigent ones with their bills
- Provide palliatives to the needy as witnessed during the recent Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns and difficult period.
The Concerned Patriots International Club is places a very high priority on the welfare of its members and in turn shows care/concern to other people in need.
